I just added a few more cats to our web site. If I counted correctly, that officially puts us just over 200 Fenton cats listed! :-) Whew!

New Kelsey Murphy Fenton Pieces In!

I wish I could post all the pictures of the new things, as they are so gorgeous! Here are a few to give you an example.

All of these pieces are much more beautiful in person, and the alley cats in particular are very hard to capture in photographs. If you are interested in more pictures, just let me know!

Easter!

Just 2 1/2 more weeks until Easter. :-) I’ve already showed you our adorable little bunny, so today I thought I’d share our Easter bunny BEARS!

This set is so adorable! There is a mama and baby bear. The mama has bunny ears, whiskers, and tail, and is carrying a basket full of eggs. The baby has a flower on its head, and Easter eggs hiding in the grass beside it. Both are opal satin with a light lavender spray.
These were made in 2004, and only 100 sets were made.
All of our Fenton exclusives are Fenton factory decorated.
If you are interested in taking a set of these sweet Fenton bears home for Easter, click here.
(Here is a sneak peek at next month’s Fenton holiday bear series, Mother’s Day!)

Fenton Books

Filed under: Uncategorized — by collectorsshowcase @ 6:40 pm

I’ve added a section on the right for links to some Fenton books. Most of them are on Amazon.com. (If you click on the links, you will be taken to the page on Amazon.)
While all of these books are fantastic, I’d like to give a special plug to Fenton Art Glass – A Centennial of Glass Making 1907-2007 by Debbie and Randy Coe, as many of our pieces are featured in that book. ;-)
I’d also like to give a special plug to Fenton Glass Made for Other Companies 1970-2005: Identification & Value Guide by Carrie and Gerald Domitz, as it features 10 pages about our Collectors’ Showcase exclusive Fenton pieces. And, well, since it’s my blog, I can do that. ;-)
If I’ve missed any great books that you know of, please let me know in the comments section below, and I will try to add them.
Have a great week, everyone!

New Online Fenton Community!

I have just started a new online Fenton community, called Fenton Art Glass Collectors.
When you join this group, you get your own page, sort of like Facebook or MySpace, where you can blog, add pictures, start discussions with other members, add friends from within the group, and even join (or start!) smaller subgroups, like Fenton Animal Collectors, or Fenton Hobnail Collectors.
Unlike MySpace, Facebook, etc, you are in a community made up of Fenton collectors, that have to be approved before joining. I will do my best to keep out any spammers, etc.
I think this will be a lot of fun, and hope that you will give it a try! :-) Hope to see you there!

Collectors Clubs

I’ve added some links to a few of the Fenton clubs that can be found around the country. Check them out under Fenton Collectors Clubs to the right!
Most of these clubs offer members only glass each year, a newsletter full of info, and some host a yearly convention where Fenton collectors like you can gather and talk Fenton. Great times for all!
We personally attend the PNWFA convention each year, as it is in Oregon, and a lot closer for us than West Virginia! ;-) I’ll look up the dates for this year’s convention and post the info here soon. I know it will be around the middle of June, so if you live in the Northwest (or want to travel!), keep your calendar open! :-)
I highly recommend getting to any Fenton convention that you can!

Happy first day of Spring, everyone! :-)
I hope it looks more like Spring where you are than it does here. It has been pouring rain all day, and there is snow in the forecast this weekend.
But it’s OK, because at least we know it’s on its way! Yay!
I hope you all have the best weekend ever!!

Carved Fenton Chocolate Cat on Fount

This cat also came in yesterday. It’s so new that I don’t even have it on our website yet, but I’m offering you all a sneak peek! :-)
"Step Back"
This is a chocolate stylized cat still on its fount, that Kelsey has carved on. I LOVE the way she decorated the base, too!
The cat has a horse rearing up on its hind legs, and is named “Step Back”. It is designed and carved personally by Kelsey herself, and is the only one of its kind. The cat does lean backwards on its fount, as many of the founted animals do. Carving goes all the way around. Super cool cat! :-)

Beautiful Carved Fenton Cats!

Here are a couple of cats that came in yesterday and left today.

Their names are “Pink Angel” and “Sapphire Angel”, and the opalescence on them made the carving turn out beautifully! On their backs is an adorable little cherub/angel with wings holding a heart.
Although we will mis them, we are happy to report that they are going to one of the best homes a Fenton cat could hope for. They are going to live with Renee’ Candalino. :-) We know they will be well taken care of and loved!
Also going along with them is this fabulous plaque, specially made to go with Renee’s collection:

Presenting “Unicorn Glen”!

This fabulous vase just arrived today from Kelsey Murphy. It is an amazing 2 color piece, french opalescent over emerald green, carved on a Fenton blank, exclusively for us, and is the only one of its kind! It features unicorns frolicking in the forest, and has amazing detail!

This piece is designed and carved PERSONALLY by Kelsey herself, and the bottom is signed “Kelsey Made in Heaven Unicorn Glen”.
I don’t even have this up on our web site yet, but wanted to give you all a sneak peek, as I am so excited about it! :-)
Watch for a couple other smaller, yet still exciting, pieces, coming soon! :-)
